I vividly remember being frustrated at a very early age at being unable to draw what I saw in my head. Something I still feel frequently to this day. So yeah, the top drawing is how I drew, and the bottom would be what I would see. the end.

Yeah! 31 days!!! woot! ok, I realize that this isn't tomorrow, but I'll be gone all day in Chicago...I'll obviously be the one walking around, holding a parasol for no good reason....

....and now for something completely different. yeah anywayI was trying to see how much you could simplify the basic shapes within a face and still have it come off as being recognizable- I'm not sure I like the colors but it was an interesting experiment!

Today I did a pure line portrait, when I drew my hair I was like "whoa! I look like i'm from the sixties1"(or do I mean the 50s?.....) so I gave myself huge fake eyelashes. fun times!

today I decided to try to focus on the three dimensionality on the face and it's basic shapes. I'm still not totally happy with the nose, but I like the cheekbones.

I tried another 'portrait' which was just a repetition of a portion of my face, only this time I tried doing mouths instead of eyes. MOUTHS ARE STINKIN' HARD TO DRAW! ahem.......anyway, enjoy!

Day #11

So I tried my hand at doing a caricature. it's a pretty mild caricature, but I like 1) the insanely happy look on my face, 2) my nose, in my opinion my best drawn one yet, and 3) how my hair looks like this squid thing attached to my head. I might try a more exagerated caricature next time.

Day #10

Today I decided to do a less conventional portrait and focus on expressions and angles of eyes. Eyes are the windows to the soul and what's in a person's eyes tells you a lot about who they are. I think my favorite is the one where my eye is closed!

gaaah! hard time with this one, I have a really hard time sitting still so I got a slightly composite view of my face! I'll say I did it on purpose! ;)
